# Pushback Rack in Grants, NM

Pushback rack in Grants puts multiple pallets of the same SKU behind one loading position, helping reserve more floor area for inventory rather than repeated aisles. Pallets ride on two to six deep nested carts running along inclined rails. Loading pushes the stored pallets rearward; removing the front pallet lets the next cart advance under controlled forklift handling.

That last-in, first-out sequence suits reserve stock that does not require strict receipt-date picking. For mining support inventory near the I-40 West industrial frontage, start with pallets per SKU and replenishment patterns, not the deepest available lane. A shallow lane that stays occupied can be more useful than a deeper lane divided among too many part numbers.

## Push back racking components and capacities

Every storage level needs a specified beam pair and a compatible cart-and-rail assembly. Beam capacity must match the loads transferred by the selected system; dividing a total bay weight evenly is not a substitute for the manufacturer’s loading criteria.

Frame height and vertical beam spacing determine usable levels alongside pallet height, lift reach, and overhead clearance. Upright capacities must be checked against the actual configuration, including the unsupported spacing between levels and the combined loads carried by the frame.

One working face handles both storage and retrieval. That arrangement can reduce aisle count compared with selective rack, while selective storage gives direct access to every pallet. Drive-in storage also provides deep lanes, but requires the truck to enter the rack rather than place pallets onto carts from the aisle.

Existing uprights do not automatically accept new cart tracks. Connection geometry, frame ratings, beam profiles, and system-specific supports require review before any reuse is proposed. This is not a universal conversion; a separate new installation may be the appropriate starting point.

## Pushback rack planning with a defined scope

As a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., supplying and installing since 1997, we provide new rack systems with planning grounded in pallet dimensions, handling equipment, and the inventory assigned to each lane.

Our scope connects cart selection with supporting rack specifications. A proposal should identify lane depth, pallet weight limits, usable storage levels, and the operating assumptions behind the layout, so purchasing can compare complete systems rather than isolated components.

Installation is coordinated through managed crews. Receiving access, material staging, and available work areas belong in that coordination, particularly when a western corridor location makes an incomplete site survey costly to resolve with another visit.

## Pushback Rack from Stock List to Installation

1

### Count the reserve stock

List each SKU’s normal and peak pallet quantities. Separate products with date-sensitive rotation from candidates for LIFO storage, then compare two-, three-, and deeper-lane assignments against realistic occupancy.

2

### Measure the handling envelope

Record pallet construction, loaded weight, overhang, truck turning space, and lift height. Include clear access from receiving so the proposed rack face does not become a holding area for incoming freight.

3

### Resolve the lane schedule

Review lane depths, beam elevations, frame heights, and stated capacities together. Check how a partly empty lane affects available locations before choosing the final number of storage positions.

4

### Coordinate the work area

Agree on delivery access, staging boundaries, and installation sequencing with managed crews. Keep the active receiving route separate from the assembly area and review loading instructions before stock enters the system.

## Questions before choosing lane depth

- How many pallets of each mining support SKU remain on hand between replenishments, and which items need direct access instead of sharing a deep lane?
- For a Santa Fe Avenue building, where do columns, door openings, and forklift turns constrain the rack face and the clearance behind the proposed frames?
- Can your pallets consistently engage the specified carts without broken boards, excess overhang, or changing load shapes that interfere with neighboring lanes?

## Pushback rack questions answered
