# Pushback Rack in Edgewood, NM

Pushback rack in Edgewood can consolidate repeat inventory without requiring a separate rear loading aisle. For distribution and freight operations along the I-40 East Mountain corridor, the starting point is pallets per SKU, not the deepest lane available. Preserve room for receiving surges before allocating floor space to storage.

Nested carts run on inclined rails, typically holding two to six pallets deep. Loading another pallet pushes the earlier loads backward; removing the front pallet lets the remaining carts advance toward the same face. This creates last-in, first-out access within each lane rather than automatic date rotation.

## Pushback Rack Planning for Repeat Freight

We compare full and partly occupied lanes against your actual inventory mix. Pushback pallet rack can reduce aisle count relative to an all-selective arrangement, but empty positions behind a slow SKU remain unavailable to other products. Several shallower lanes may offer a better balance than fewer deep lanes.

Our division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co. draws on a supplying and installing background that began in 1997. We supply new equipment and manage installation crews, with delivery access and working boundaries agreed around the receiving activity your facility needs to maintain.

Along Route 66 industrial frontage, the route from unloading to the proposed rack face should influence layout. We review forklift approaches and staging before adding lane depth. A compact storage block still needs an accessible load and pick face throughout the normal shipping cycle.

## Push Back Racking Components and Capacity

A pushback rack lane combines matched carts, rails, supports, and a rated supporting structure. Pallet dimensions, underside contact, overhang, and weight range affect component selection. The forklift must place each load squarely and control retrieval as the next pallet advances; operators do not travel inside the storage lane.

Depth should follow the number of pallets normally held for each SKU. Two-deep lanes may suit modest repeat quantities, while four- or six-deep lanes need enough matching inventory to justify the commitment. Batch separation may require multiple lanes even when one product has sufficient total volume.

A beam pair per level supports the specified lane assembly and its transferred loads. We assess beam capacity together with frame height, beam spacing, upright configuration, and the selected cart system. Raising a level or changing lane depth requires another capacity review, not an assumption that existing ratings remain unchanged.

Selective rack preserves direct access to individual pallets; drive-in is another option for concentrated inventories but requires forklift entry into lanes. Adding compatible pushback components to an existing structure is possible only after a documented compatibility and capacity review. This is not a universal conversion for any rack.

## Pushback Pallet Rack Review Sequence

1

### Count repeat positions

Send SKU counts, typical receipt quantities, and the lowest stock held between deliveries. We use those figures to compare lane depths and identify products that should remain in selective positions for direct retrieval.

2

### Document the loaded pallet

Provide pallet dimensions, underside photographs, loaded heights, and weight extremes. These details establish cart support needs and the load envelope before a new lane assembly is selected for the proposed rack structure.

3

### Place the working aisle

Mark receiving queues, forklift turning space, and dispatch staging on the plan. Review how one shared loading and picking face will handle simultaneous replenishment and retrieval without depending on space assigned to another activity.

4

### Arrange installation access

We coordinate managed crews around agreed work zones and material routes. Handover addresses lane assignments, load limits, and controlled pallet movement so staff understand the selected system before putting routine inventory into its lanes.

## Inventory Questions Before Lane Selection

- Which repeat freight SKUs sustain two or more pallets between receipts?
- Where can incoming pallets wait without occupying the shared working aisle?
- Do changing load heights require different beam spacing or fewer storage levels?

## Freight Storage Buyer Answers

### Can Edgewood freight stock share a lane across SKUs?

### Should I choose six-deep lanes for small delivery batches?

### Can dated freight use last-in, first-out storage?

### Can replenishment and picking use the same aisle?
